really kinda countrified in the way that early Talking Heads was countrified (kinda stripped down but still fresh and funky). still sounds like 111H but another outing that's way dif from this crew. really coulda picked any song by now. worth paying for.

One Eleven Heavy Presents:
When The Tune Changes...So Does The Dance
2020 was shaping up to be a pretty busy year for One Eleven Heavy. We booked our first tour of the west coast for May and planned to meet up a few months later at Hans’ new home studio in Nashville to begin recording our third record. Nick, Hans, and I—the band’s primary songwriters—had been amassing songs, making demos, and the entire band was engaged in the adrenalized plotting and planning that goes into making a new record.
Alas, it was not to be. The tour has been cancelled and the recording session postponed indefinitely, or at least until next year.
Rather than sit for a year on all the demos I made for the record, I’ve decided to release them here as part of the One Eleven Heavy Presents series, with the understanding that 1) I will likely write a few dozen more songs before the band is again together in the same room, and 2) I’m sure our fans will forgive us if we do wind up re-recording some of these later on. In fact, maybe it’ll be fun to hear the ‘work tapes’ of songs that eventually end up on the record, should they make the cut. That said, at this point I think I have decided to scrap all of these and start fresh when we have some idea about when we’ll be getting together. I may change my mind about this—I think “Rizzo In The Wig,” in particular, will sound really good with the full band— especially if I have a bout of writer’s block or something before then. Guess we’ll see.
Many of the songs here, as recorded, are incomplete: entire verses are missing on a few because I wrote these additional verses after I recorded the basic demos. “Bama Yeti,” in particular, makes less sense without the verse that explains how the titular Sasquatch, despite being discovered in Florida, had actually crossed the border from Alabama. Oh, well. Use your imagination.
These demos weren’t meant to be heard outside of the band, and there are mistakes and bad notes. 6 of the 9 songs here were in serious consideration for the record (Hans, Nick and I probably would have ultimately contributed 3 or 4 songs each). A few others didn’t quite fit the 111H aesthetic, but that fact didn’t reveal itself until after the demo was finished (this happens sometimes).

Bright gray sheets of roaring and shimmering guitar held aloft by a delicate web of percussion. Post-rock, shoegaze, psych- rock and hints of bluesy folk, all audible and enmeshed. IlsaJ

Long-form trance-y rhythmic jams, with a fun shambling edge, sounding like a cross between music from Africa's Sahel region crossed with a Tom Waits instrumental... Jascha Narveson
